Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel & Management Day Celebration

Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel & Management Day Celebration

July 16, 2025

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, was prayerfully observed in our school with a solemn and meaningful Prayer Service. The event aimed to honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of the Carmelite Order, and to deepen our devotion to her motherly love and spiritual guidance. The service began with an inspiring introduction about Mount Carmel: on a mountain in the Holy Land traditionally associated with the prophet Elijah and a place of deep prayer and divine encounter. It is also the birthplace of the Carmelite spiritual tradition, rooted in silence, contemplation, and a deep commitment to God.

A special highlight of the service was the explanation of the Brown Scapular, sacramentally given by Our Lady of Mount Carmel to St. Simon Stock in the 12th century. The Scapular is a symbol of Mary’s protection and a call to live a life of prayer, service, and devotion. This is the promise attached to the Scapular: that “Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.”

Students and staff reflected on the virtues of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who is honored as the Queen and Beauty of Carmel. Her life exemplifies purity, humility, obedience, faith, and prayerfulness. She is a model of complete surrender to God’s will and a source of inspiration for all who seek to grow in holiness. Through her silent strength and constant intercession, Mary leads the faithful closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

The Mount Carmel Feast Prayer Service was a deeply spiritual event that enriched the faith of the school community. It offered a moment to reflect on Mary’s virtues, embrace the significance of the Scapular, and unite in prayer for the needs of the world. The celebration strengthened our connection to the Carmelite heritage and inspired all present to follow Our Lady’s example of holiness, simplicity, and trust in God.
